Email marketing may be capable of increasing your site traffic, client list, and eventually, profit, but not all emailmarketing campaigns are successful. The choice of software is least likely to be blamed upon as it's only a tool that makes email marketing easier.
Just like any marketing strategy, email marketing requires time and practice. And to be successful in every campaign, you should be watchful enough to avoid the following mistakes often committed by many web entrepreneurs and internet marketers:
1. Use of generic subject line
Place yourself in the shoes of your customers. Would you open an email bearing a boring subject line? Or would you ever notice it at all? With so many emails coming in your client's inbox every day, do you think your email would be noticed with that generic line? It won't.
Consider your subject line as a headline or a title of a book. No matter how enticing your offer is or your upcoming product, you won't get good response if your email won't be opened. And it won't be opened if it goes unnoticed. So invest some time in coming up with a catchy subject line.
2. Poorly written message
Grammatical errors, typos, and misspelled words in your content are signs that you are not able to proofread your article thoroughly. This actually sends negative signals to clients, making your company appears to be unprofessional. Do not let this to happen by spending time in proofreading your message before hitting the 'send' button.
One doesn't have to be a writer in order to come up with a flawless content. There are available resources both online and offline that can be used to get rid of these errors.
3. Non-compliance of internet laws
Over the years, with the growing popularity of internet marketing and with online scams as well, some countries have come up with laws to protect web users from being victims of false advertising and scams. One of these laws is the Can-Spam Act which requires marketers to include the physical address of their business in their email campaigns and adding an opt-out button. This opt-out button or link enables subscribers to remove themselves from the email list of businesses whenever they wanted to. Violation of these laws won't just bring bad reputation to your business but would as well lead you to imprisonment and hefty fines.
